Mod Name / Version: Signature Timer 1.0

Working Under: UBB.Threads 6.3 and 6.5

Mod Status: Beta

Any pre-requisites: UBB.Threads 6.3 or 6.5

Author(s): JoshPet

Date: 11/06/03

Credits: Jennifer Watson of www.passporterboards.com

Files Altered: editbasic.tmpl, changebasic.php, showflat.php, showthreaded.php, and the header-insert.php include file.

New Files: none

Database Altered: New field, U_Timer added to the w3t_Users Table

Info/Instructions: The user will create their timer, by editing their profile (just below their signature).

Disclaimer: Please backup every file that you intend to modify.
If the modification modifies the database, it's a good idea to backup your database before doing so.

Note: If you modify your UBB.Threads code, you may be giving up your right for "official" support from Infopop. If you need official support, you'll need to restore unmodified files.

Cute mod! And it's smart to have it in the profile to make it easier to create the timer.

Thank you so much, Josh! This is precisely what we needed in our message board.

I made the modifications, and aside from some weirdness with mySQL server (which had to be restarted after adding the new field) and probably had nothing to do with this, I had not one glitch. My members are creating timers and VERY happy.

And one of the neatest things is that Josh improved upon the idea, making the countdown timer so much more user-friendly than the examples I posted.

Bravo!

I carefully installed it and ran the SQL query and double checked, but I still get:
[]SQL ERROR: Unable to do_query: SELECT t1.B_Number,t2.U_Username,t1.B_Posted,t1.B_IP,t1.B_Subject,t1.B_Body,t1.B_File,t1.B_Status,t1.B_Approved,t2.U_Picture,t1.B_Reged,t2.U_Title,t2.U_Color,t1.B_Icon,t1.B_Poll,t1.B_Parent,t2.U_Status,,, t1.B_LastEdit,t1.B_LastEditBy,t2.U_Location,t2.U_TotalPosts,t2.U_Registered,t2.U_Rating,t2.U_Rates,t2.U_RealRating,t2.U_PicWidth,t2.U_PicHeight,t2.U_Number,t1.B_FileCounter,t1.B_AnonName,t1.B_ParentUser FROM w3t_Posts AS t1, w3t_Users AS t2 WHERE t1.B_Main = 54971 AND t1.B_PosterId = t2.U_Number ORDER BY B_Number LIMIT 10
You have an error in your SQL syntax near ', t1.B_LastEdit,t1.B_LastEditBy,t2.U_Location,t2.U_TotalPosts,t2.U_Registered,t2' at line 2

Check your code "t2.U_Status,,," You have 3 commas. You only need one.

Hi,

Any idea if this will work on 6.4.1?
Rather not modify the database to find out afterwards the hack does not work.

Is there any reason for this not to work with 6.5?

TIA

No it does, not sure if the instructions here are exact, but I'm using it at www.mousefunfacts.com and www.passporterboards.com which are both running 6.5
