This is one that really bothers me, as well as some members of my board. Some people get carried away with this, and I really don't care to see these...plus, it's just something else to load on the page. Maybe not a big deal for the fortunate people with DSL, cable, etc., but I'm stuck on dial-up...

You can turn off avatars in posts in Admin->Edit Theme-> Show user's profile pictures in their post. You also have the option to disallow the option of avatars. " Allow users to add a picture to their profile"

Individual users can change how this shows up for them by going to:
My Home->Display preferences, number of shown threads, languages, colors...->
View user's pictures with their posts?
Also has the ability to turn of avatars when view someones profile->" View other user's pictures in their profile?"

This is built in functionality on my 6.3.1 board.

ETA: I see this same functionality in the "Display preferences, number of shown threads, languages, colors..." of the My Home section of the 6.4 boards they are running here.

Well, as usual, I feel stupid! I had turned off the one in the config page, but forgot about the theme page.

Would one of the mods save me some humiliation and toast this thread...!

While we're on the topic of stupid questions, now that some of the users do in fact have avatars, that are linked from other sites, how can I get rid of them? Am I gonna have to do it manually? Is there a fix-all MySQL command??
