Note that this is a big change to the code and whilst I've tested these install instructions and the resultant code I can not guarantee that this will work perfectly. My thinking was to let it loose upon the comunity so it could be looked at by everyone.
This threading works using several new flags in the database. Maybe I could have used fewer flags, but I wanted to use the exisiting system as much as possible so that the old and new systems worked alongside each other. If you can think of a more effecient way then I'd be interested to know.
Disclaimer: Please backup every file that you intend to modify. If the modification modifies the database, it's a good idea to backup your database before doing so.
Note: If you modify your UBB.Threads code, you may be giving up your right for "official" support from Infopop.If you need official support, you'll need to restore unmodified files.
Would anyone be interested in a mod so you can have several pages? Right now the script doesn't have a limit and will go on forever so the thread can become very long, I have altered it a little so it will do 10 pm's per page and will show a new page for the rest.
this is a very complicated modification to debug - the problem comes when you have an active website with over 3,000 PMs being sent each day... the commands that grab how many PM are new in your inbox will just kill your server.
Another issue I'm having with this mod is that people complain that right after they reply to a message, the original message no longer exists (although it actually went to the OUTBOX).
Now if the sender goes into his outbox and reads what he sends, that message will no longer be checked as NEW for the recipient.
And the last issue I have with this system is that if a PM was written to a member and the conversation lasted 29 days, and you have your PM to purge every 30 days.... it will purge the first PM in that conversation, removing all the remaining linked PM in that conversation - and giving the impression that the conversation that took over 30 days to completed, never really existed. (yes, on my bored the age limit of PM is maxed at 30 days... our PM file is about 90mb)
other than these things - I have been working hard to constantly improve this mod - but its very difficult due to it's complex SQL queries...
