Hello, I have been searching and searching for the two following modifications and was wondering if anyone was aware of either or both, before I just go ahead and create the mods myself.

Categories within Categories

I use the IIP and have created some custom scripts with which I can display things on the front page exactly how I want them (would take too long to explain fully). I have intentionally not included access level verification so that even if I have the forums set to be only viewable by me, the data is still pulled from the database properly. This is so that I (or anyone I give relevant access to) can modify and add data in the forums as normal for editing purposes... but it only ever gets displayed where I want it (on the front page in the format I have specificed) and not at all in the forum list (unless you have edit access).

The only problem with this is that it makes my forums very cluttered for me and the other people who can see these "hidden categories". It would be very useful for me if I could have two sets of categories i.e. have my normal forum categories in the top category "box", entitled categories, in the category order I specify and my other restricted categories in a second box below the first entitled "Database" or some such, with a seperate category order.

Basically I want to be able to split my categories into two seperate categories, heh. Confusing I know.

Allowing attachments only in specific forums.

It would also be especially helpful for me if I could allow attachments, but only in certain forums.

Right well... I've sorted the category thing out...

I guess I'll have to write a mod for the forums thhing myself. Would anyone want me to post it here when it's done?

yes, I would.

This mod would effectively make the NEWS forum function in the way I want it to, IE news only being shown where I want it instead of on the forums.

I haven't hacked the news section in that way... the easiest way to do that, however, would be to remove the user level verification for read access on the front page, then give all users NO ACCESS via the forums.

The mod I was thinking about documenting was the attachments for specific forums only.
