Mod Name / Version: Daily Flood Control 1.0

Description: This allows you a simple way to restrict certain users to X number of posts within a 24 hour period. Excellent for someone who posts too much junk on your boards.

Working Under: UBB.Threads 6.4

Mod Status: Beta

Any pre-requisites: none

Author(s): JoshPet

Date: 05/16/04

Credits: Commissioned by ldraper of www.davedraper.com

Files Altered: /admin/showoneuser.php, /admin/dochangeuser.php, addpost.php, /langauges/****/addpost.php

New Files: none

Database Altered: 1 field (U_FloodCheck) added to the w3t_Users table

Info/Instructions: Edit the user's profile, in there, you'll see an option for the maximum number of posts they can make within a 24 hour period. Putting a 0 here provides no restriction. Otherwise put a number. Example "10" would only allow 10 posts within
a 24 hour period.

Disclaimer: Please backup every file that you intend to modify.
If the modification modifies the database, it's a good idea to backup your database before doing so.

Note: If you modify your UBB.Threads code, you may be giving up your right for "official" support from Infopop. If you need official support, you'll need to restore unmodified files.

Hi,

While this will be useful, I was wondering if it would be possible to restrict all users to post more than X times in a single thread?

One of the biggest problems on my board is that certain people have a tendency to turn threads into yes-no debates with neither group backing down an inch. Gets really boring of course.

Sanuk!
