Posted on UBBCentral ad a feature suggestion, it could also be a mod:

Sometime to keep our comunity "clean" we write a post and instead of replaying we simply modify it.
User read that post only when it's new and never come back to read it since there is a new reply, so they will never be aware that the post has been updated.

My suggestion is to make an option douring editing the post to flag "Mark as updated", then the post will appear in the recent post list with an "Updated" icon. After user read it it back to normality.

This will contribute in keep comunity clean and user to read updated posts.

Good suggestion! We could also use this at our forum.

Yeah, it would be a nice little feature. I would mostly use it in the administration boards though, but there it would be a great help. Maybe for some sticky rules or important info threads as well though.

really all you would have to do is add a function to the editpost.php that changes the date of the actual post if checked. as is now edit doesn't change the original date. That would check it as new.

The cheap way to to do it would be to edit your post and move it to the same place that it is.

you would edit your post to add your text. then go back in a nd edit the thread, move it to where it is already. it will be marked as new.

I have a guy that does it on my forums with updated gaming news.
