I was doing some brain storming (what little I have left!) and was wondering what the possibilities would be to have a forum member receive a PM (rather than email), letting them know that someone replied to their post? I am running UBB.Threads v6.4 ....

I was gonna leave this for someone with more skillz than I to answer this, but since its so dead here today I'll throw out a little info.

I know that this is totally possible, but it will cause some db bloat to have all those posts stored in the pm table as well. You should just need to replace the email function with the pm function in the subscriptions script.

I totally don't have time to even start to look for the code snippets you will need as I am deep in something else. But, someone around here could probally hack this up in aboot 20 mins. But, I really don't think this is a good idea due to the bloat it could cause, and therefore the slow down of the site.

Ideally it should be a configurable option imo. Not everybody would want to have their PM flasher going off constantly like that

That would also lessen the database bloat as well, especially if it's off by default.

I would say that the reason this is done by Email is so that people do not have to log in to the board in order to find out. While I am sure most of us long into our boards at least once a day, many of the members do not, hence the emails.
