Back in the day the author of jpdatabase.com created a wonderful template that had a layout almost exactly like today's Eve ( http://community.infopop.net/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=729094322&f=3983010105&m=2303042196 ) in which there was that funny line separating the post icon from the message and then the bottom line which separated the message from the member info regarding the number of posts and registration date. Could someone pleeeeaaassee show me what adjustments need to be made to achieve that look? P.S. I sort of recall that the member number was included just as it is in Classic, underneath the username. Can this also be done?

Viewing source on the page gave me the following html for the post icon table cell: <td class="ev_msg_posticon"> Playing around in Top Style Pro gave me this (JC jump in if I'm wrong): .test {<br /> border-left: 1px solid Black;<br /> border-bottom: 1px solid Black; <br /> border-top: solid 1px Black; <br /> } You could change "test" to anything you want and then apply it to the table cell that holds the post icon in the showflat and showthreaded scripts -not too easy cause there is a lot more than just the post icon in that table cell. Look for this in the showflat.tmpl file: <td align="left" width="70%" valign="top"><br /><img src="{$config['images']}/icons/{$postrow[$i]['Icon']}" {$images['icons']} alt="" $imagestyle /> Then you'd have to come up with another class for the bottom border after the post icon. Not a simple task, but not too tough P.S. I have no time to get into another template mod right now -I'm knee deep into scripting Facelift for Threads 6.5

Noticed that you have that "funny line" in your template but there seems to be a bug with it. Sometimes it goes around the post icon nicely while at other times it goes well wide (3 times at far).
Does anyone know of a Threads board that has been made to imitate the look&feel of Classic? I know jpdatabase.com used to have a brilliant template, but unfortunately the site no longer runs Threads.

For me "Classic being dead" isn't an issue: Although the Classic design was good it, like the standard Threads design, has limitations -and your not gonna make the interface better by copying either one of them...

That's a matter of opinion Many of us prefer the look and feel of classic over threads, especially the posting pages Conrad, give me time, I'll make one pretty similar, if not dead-on

I figure, if you like classic, want the look, use classic.

"...your not gonna make the interface better by copying either one of them..."Dalantech, I definitely agree that I should look for the positive points of both interfaces before deciding what I want, as opposed to copying one just for the sake of it. "classic is over and done with.. move on LOL" "I figure, if you like classic, want the look, use classic."JC, this has to go down as probably the least helpful bit of advice ever posted here at Threadsdev... "Conrad, give me time, I'll make one pretty similar, if not dead-on"Allen, are you already working on a UBBC-style template? How soon do you think it'll be completed?

"JC, this has to go down as probably the least helpful bit of advice ever posted here at Threadsdev... " Conrad, you have been asking about this for a long time. And no one has done it, take the hint.

Good! What I do is look at all of the different forum scripts and then pick and choose the best options from each one (cause none of them, IMHO, are perfect). I also "play test" my layout and if there is a lot of scrolling to get something done then I know I'm not finished...

Not true, JC. JPbatabase.com had what was almost a carbon copy of Classic, and probably the best-looking Threads board that I have ever come across (regardless of the Classic look). Problem is the author switched to different forum software so the templates are no longer available.
Allen, thanks for your interest in creating a Classic-type template. Can't wait to see them in action!
Dalantech, once I get to know the code and how to change the layout myself, I'll probably toy around with different designs and explore the true power of the template feature.
