Mod Name / Version: Admin Edit Password 1.0

Description: This restores the functionality in 6.5 for the admin to edit users passwords. 6.5 already has a function to mail the user a temporary password, but that's of little help if the user isn't able to get the emails or continues to have trouble.

Working Under: UBB.Threads 6.5

Mod Status: Beta

Any pre-requisites: none

Author(s): JoshPet

Date: 10/20/04

Credits: Commissioned by www.PostYourPlays.com

Files Altered: /admin/showuser.php, /admin/changeuser.php, /templates/default/admin/showuser.tmpl

New Files: none

Database Altered: none

Info/Instructions: Quick and dirty hack to restore functionality.

Disclaimer: Please backup every file that you intend to modify.
If the modification modifies the database, it's a good idea to backup your database before doing so.

Note: If you modify your UBB.Threads code, you may be giving up your right for "official" support from Infopop. If you need official support, you'll need to restore unmodified files.

Great idea! This is one thing I always liked about UBBClassic. Is there any way to do this for v6.4?
Thanks

You don't need this in 6.4 - Threads had this functionality built in prior to 6.5 - so you can edit a user's password when you edit the profile (look for the dots). But in 6.5 they took this functionality out.

If you mean the ability to view a user's password - that's not possible, the password uses one-way MD5 encryption... so you have to reset the user's password to something else and tell them to login using the password you've set for them.

I noticed that this also allows moderators to edit passwords, can this be disabled?

Good question....

Josh, this is a great hack by the way, but I'm with 'gbhetrick' as I'd like to disable Mods from being able to run this hack.
