I am using UBBThreads version 6.4.4

I am looking for some opinions on Photo Post Classifieds. I have looked at their web site but would like to get some feedback from others.

Is this the best way to offer classified ads on my boards?
Is there any alterative choice for setting up a classified ad system?
Is the integration with UBB Threads 6.4.4 smooth?
Is it user friendly and admin friendly?
Is it bugging?
How is support for newbies like myself?

Thank you. Any replies are appreciated.

Well, my biased opinions are:

1) I use it on my site ViperAlley.Com and we've sold over $1 million in merchandise (more than a dozen Vipers have been sold).
2) The links above probably help with choices - I never found any that integrated with Threads.
3) Yes, see ViperAlley.Com
4) I think so, much like PhotoPost (based on same code).
5) Bugging? Not sure what you mean? Buggy? The 1.8 release out now is stable and the current 2.0 beta 5 is fairly stable (and offers product bidding and user feedback).
6) Between myself and omegatron you have two very involved Threads people handling development and most of the support.

And I did put those other links up there as reference, I believe you would find most of those products either lacking in functionality, or none too easy to integrate with Threads.

My personal opinion is that I enjoy the heck out of tooling with my Photopost Pro installations, and if I needed Classifieds, I would get Photopost Classifieds.

I just purchased and installed PhotoPost Classifieds. I installed it on my Threads v6.5 however, I'm looking at having my Threads top menu shown when a user clicks on the Classifieds link.

I'd like it to show up just like my PhotoPost Gallery.

Help on this is greatly appreciated....

Can't you include the same header as your PhotoPost?

Eeesh, well this ole rookie used Chuck's written hack to do the PhotoPost integration and I'm not sure how I would go about making PhotoPost Classifieds run the same header.

The other question that I have is how I can add the Who's Online information when a user or users are viewing or posting in the Classifieds.

Help on this is greatly appreciated. Oh and thank you for a the Classifieds program. It's a very nice addition to my site!

depends.. don't know much about the classified but depending on what script they are running when viewing or posting is it like addclassify.php and viewclassify.php you could simply put in the /ubbthreads/language/x/online.php the $ubbt_lang['scripttitle'] = "Viewing classified";

Thanks Scroungr, but not sure what this would mean: $ubbt_lang['scripttitle'] = "Viewing classified";

'scriptitle', how would the system know that they are in the Classified's program? Are you meaning I need to put text that would replace 'scriptitle'?

Sorry....but please understand that I'm a wookie at this schtuff....

you have access to phpMyAdmin? what I usually do is bring it up and the w3t_Online table and watch it.. then I bring up the pages in another browser window and then I see what is inputed into the online table and then open my language file for the online.php and put in

$ubbt_lang['name'] = "whatever I want to call it";

and if the software doesn't then I usually put into that script a piece of code to add to the w3t_Online table what I want it to add..

thats how the online page gets info for say where the user is and what he is doing there like for my arcade.. I have it

$ubbt_lang['arcade'] = "in the arcade";

and then depending on what they doing

$ubbt_lang['hanging'] = "hanging";

so what comes out on online page is

Haning in the arcade... for instance..

Ahhhhh......thanks for taking the time out to break this one down a bit barney-style for me. Made it easy for me to understand.

I'll get to playing around with this one soon.

Thanks again Scroungr.
