Cool Read it and you really spent some time including alot of the hacks we regularly add in. Now all that is left is the sub-forums.

We've deciced not to include sub-forums at this time. Basically it came down to trying to keep some similarity between the products and this was a feature that would have created some headaches for customers that are switching to/from .threads and another Infopop product. Plus when we do add sub-forums I'd like to figure out how to make them any level deep. What I had in mind was only 1 level deep.

My fault for spouting off my mouth too soon But I think there will be enough new stuff with 6.4 it should keep everyone happy

Yes there is enough to keep people happy in 6.4 Rick!!

Good Job!

However I must point out though that besides all the crappy coding and fancy stuff with VB,--- SUBFORUMS are a main part of the coding and draw when choosing that software.

Crossing my fingers for 6.5

Sound very impressive.

I have to ask this: Can you provide any screenshots of the calendar? I'm currently evolving several calendar applications which may not be necessary if the ubb.threads calendar provides all necessary functionality and a clear layout.

Very Impressive Astaran,

I don't think I have seen a change log that long from the get go. Usually Rick keeps adding but this thing is way long the first day it is released. Rick has been doing alot of work.

Yay better polls!

That's an amazing list of features. I'm really looking forward to it.

A friend and I created a calendar add on specific to the game we play on, will be interesting to see if we can hook our code into the new calendar.

Yay!!! I guess I won't have to release my terrible revenge. You just made the deadline. This weekend was terrible revenge time. But now I do a happy dance instead.

Awesome feature set. I was really hoping for the subforums though. Hopefully in 6.5 though. :crossed fingers:

I think everyone's going to love it.

As for screenshots.... LOL better ask ADK.

Cool - they put in the Ignore User and moved the admin buttons I was complaining about.

Now, how about the User browing this forum hack? Its nice to see a list of who is actually browsing the forum - the numbers dont tell much.

Great work, Rick. Even without the subforums

Are you still planning the subforum feature this way that the parentforums will contain (show) all posts of their subforums? Just to make me sleep tonight

Hi,

Excellent!

We are still on 6.1.1, but reading this one I think this may be the one to make us upgrade. Some really cool additions.
The polls is something my members have been bitching about for a while already and I know my mods and I will love the new thread maintenance features.

The ignore feature will also cut down on keeping the peace

Any time frame on a release date?

Sanuk!

[:"pink"]Do you mean to show two forum listings at once (one for the parent forum, one for the subforum)? That would be a bit cumbersome. I would prefer something like this. One difference though is that it should have a collapse/expand button.[/]

Not really. It would exactly look like in your vBulletin example link (But I'm not sure if all of the posts from all of the subforums are shown below).

Just imagine a subforum like a filter for the parentforum. In the parentforum you can have an overview of all posts, or go deeper into a subforum to see just a subset of the posts.

Re the calendars - I hope we will have the ability to have multiple copies rather than just a board wide one.

Great feature list - should be out in beta next week then

Hi,

"Just imagine a subforum like a filter for the parentforum. In the parentforum you can have an overview of all posts, or go deeper into a subforum to see just a subset of the posts. "
Now this is something that I would very much like to see implemented.

[:"pink"] Maybe there should be an admin option to have the subforum act as a filter for the parentforum, or for a subforum to act like a seperate forum. [/]

Awesome feature set - my favorite hack (Calendar) will have a variant included as standard, which means I am down to only a few hacks left, LOL.

Which is a good thing!

hehehe, why did you mention that so quickly? Just remove the "6.3" at the bottom and everyone will be very pleased playing around with it - I'm quite sure

I have the same opinion. subforums is a must, more than this stupid calendars. A calendar is a nice addon for a forum but subforums are a basic feature.

The password protection hack from Josh is one of the things I've waited for since months and really ass kicking :-)
Thanks Josh for this great one!

Hey Josh, if the guys from Infopop don't know to handle the subforum stuff, maybe you can write a hack for that?

I second that! Plus, when Rick says he wants subforums on any level, does that mean "any forum can be a subforum of any other forum"? I hope so, up to and including forums from different categories being subforums of another forum

So is there no hack at all for making sub-forums? Josh, didn't you mention that you made a hack like that before?

Is it not sub-categories people really want??

I think if you look at VB it is really a CATEGORY.

Yeah, subcategories would make sence, subforums not (in my opinion).

I tried to explain that in this thread.

No, people want subforums

Since months I think about subforums the way Astaran explained them in the other thread. I don't like the idea of subcategories as they can not contain all posts of their subforums.

A toggle in the configfile for the behaviour of the sub%-stuff would be nice, so we all get what we want.

What is the advantage of getting all threads displayed twice?
Once in the forum and another time in the subforum?
Forum A
Subforum A.1
Subforum A.2

Why read the subforum A.1 and A.2 if you can read all posting in Forum A?
Maybe a better overview?
Then their would be no reason for forum A.

Some other problems:
How can a user determine in which forum a thread is located?
Search results will be confusing cause the thread will appear there twice also?
