Hi all, when I go to the IP logged bit on my forum hosted on F2S.com I always get 127.0.0.1, is there a way around this or not?

Nope, its the way they have their server configured. They have many things screwed up becuase of there configuration, such as you can't have a direct http upload, only ftp is allowed.

But for a free host with no banners, hell its good..

If you'd like to see their security in action, just chmod a script 754, it will still work, it doesn't use single user axxs rights, it uses group axxs rights, thats so they can use the vhost........

My host, www.wantsomegetsome.net (no matter what it may sound like, I swear it's not a pr0n site!!!), is just awesome!! $20/month, too. So yeah, you don't have to pay a lot to get decent *real* hosting. But paid is almost invariably better than freebie IMO, if only because of the lack of reqr'd banners/popups. smile

Chuck, I have not had any experience with their SQL databases. I dunno anything about SQL/PHP, and I haven't used any scripts that require them. So I can't really answer that question. Sorry.

I asked them about subdomains once... seems like they're $25/setup and $10/month. That sounded pretty steep to me... maybe they've changed that policy since I asked them (it would have been about five months ago). I would guess the high price was to help alleviate problems of people getting that unlimited space and then reselling/giving away space for their buddies. Just my guess tho, I dunno what the real reason is.

Thanks for your IP hack...

All I found was the IP number was wrong for previous posts, but you can't have everything in life wink
