I consider this high priority for all language file editors.

Language files seem to be a perpetual source of problems for the functionality of this forums.
I would say that the reason for this is mainly a lacking documentation: []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/smile.gif[/]

Some ideas:

1/
Exact documentation on the CHANGES pages, on what English language file what variable was changed, deleted or added.
So we can easily edit or own files from there.

2/
Chose an editor from the board, that would do the translation of the language files for each default language and each page that are included on delivery, BEFORE a new version is released, right away. (Maybe contact this person with a private message).

3/
Explain and seperate these special groups of Variabes:

a/
Certain variables should have no "Umlaute" and especially no HTML Umlaute code such as "ü"
(some form-button texts are passed to other php-pages and are affected by this)

b/
some variables are used for email content (subject or body) and should use not certain HTML style

c/
some variables need to have a unique content at all scripts, or the board would not function.
There should be a remark: "used in this.php and that.php and needs a unique name"

I especially agree with the suggestion that before releasing a version, language files are sent to translators to translate.
I translate to Spanish, and I must confess I failed in doing so for the last few small versions, didnt give it much priority because as far as I can tell, its only three variables or so... but I should probably do it now, right? []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/wink.gif[/]
