Possibly could be do to having to many required fields to qualify for display? Uncheck all of the boxes in the configure panel related to the random profile required fields and see if that helps.
On a side note, to keep the random profile box from going blank just check to see if the update query grabbed anything and if it's empty don't update. Hope that made sense... lol
