Oooh, I just gotta get into this debate, it's just so fun-looking and inviting...
I am one of the very few people who use IE under pressure. While you all have valid arguments that either support one or the other, I am of the opinion that both browsers suck the rigid shaft of Satan right now. IE *SHOULD* be good, and under normal circumstances it is. But with WinME and IE5.5, there is this annoying problem that totally freezes the browser about every five minutes, and it gets locked up for about 30 seconds usually just sitting there, before it decides to do anything. If you're reading a nice long page at that time, it's good. But if you're trying to open a page at that time, you just sit there and wait. And Nutscrape, well, I'm not even going to go into it (I hope you can tell that since I called it Nutscrape that I don't like it).
I use IE because of a lack of other options. The only other major browser available is Opera, and you freaking have to pay for it!!! NeoPlanet is just IE with a skinned face lift, as is just about every other browser on the planet. Very few people write their own proprietary browser; most who make them rely on other people's code, namely, Microsoft's. Even I've written my own browser, and it used the basic Windows internet components to do its business.
I honestly can't wait till some programming genious combines the greatest things about IE with the greatest things about Nutscrape, throw in some Opera, and maybe give it a cherry-flavored Skinning engine on top. I would almost pay to possess that one.
