I have seen some questions on how to make ones own channel for the chat mod.
As someone already mentioned, you can register a channel on DalNet, undernet, EFNet and so on.
But you can also set up your own ircserver, running either on your own windows/unix machine, or you can put the server on a shellaccount.
The best ircserver today, is the Unreal 3.1.2-Darkshades It is made both for unix/linux and Windows. It is very well documented, and you can get all the support you need to set it up at #unrealircd channel on irc.ircsystems.net
If you want services, like ChanServ, NickServ, MemoServ e.g. you can set up the IRCServices v4.5.20 and link it to your UnrealIRCD server. Support for this is given at #ircdservices channel on irc.ircsystems.net
ALL of this software and support are FREE!!
If you are not able to run this on your own machine, the UnrealIRCD folks recommend the shell service at ice-fox
Hope this can be of some help to make it more fun and useful to install the great chatmod
BTW, too bad html is not enabled, course the code above you can use on your website to make your ircclient start, and connect just by clicking on the link
